Alexandra House is a 3-bedroom bungalow equipped to the highest standards to provide holiday accommodation for people with both profound and multiple disabilities, but, despite specialist equipment, remains a relaxing and comfortable home-from-home.

The owner is happy to be informed of any extra needs or concerns as she understands each family has very individual needs and wishes to be able to provide for these as much as possible.

The centrally heated bungalow has level access accommodation throughout, with widened doorways and hallway, with double French doors to the level access garden.

Alexandra House's facilities and location makes it eminently suitable for holidays all year round.

The Main Living Area
The spacious main living space is an open plan area with sufficient turning spaces, comprising lounge, dining and kitchen areas. There is a short high/low physio plinth useful as a day bed for immobile children who need to rest but remain with the family. It is located in full view of the kitchen, dining and lounge areas. A fixed ceiling hoist in the living room enables transfer to the day bed or to lay and play on the rug.

Facilities include: WiFi, flatscreen TV/DVD, radio CD player and selection of DVDs, CD, books and children's games. The kitchen is equipped with built-in electric double oven/grill, gas hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble drier and all the usual kitchen utensils - glasses, cutlery, plates, etc. A high chair is available on request.

From the living area there is level access through French doors to the private level paved area and garden, with wooden gazebo to relax in the shade. There is a large garden table and chairs for dining and various seating areas to relax and enjoy this lovely peaceful garden.

The Special Needs Bedroom
The special needs bedroom has a high/low profiling bed with low safety rails. The bed has two tilt facilities for reflux and circulation. It has a gentle turning facility that can be programmed to turn at intervals throughout the night to relieve pressure.

The bed also has a separate stronger turning facility to help with changing and dressing which is especially helpful for single carers.

The room contains a moveable trolley/bedside table, radio/CD and ample electric sockets for additional equipment. There is space for a Z/camp bed for a carer if required. This can be provided on request.

There is also a fixed ceiling hoist.

Other Bedrooms
The other bedrooms comprise a double bedroom with large double bed, flatsceen TV and a twin bedroom.

Both bedrooms are light and airy and have plenty of storage space.

The Bathrooms
Alexandra has two separate bathrooms both equipped with special needs facilities meaning there is less time constraint on the special needs bathroom.

The wet room providing everything needed for the more able clients but also has accessible shower facilities with mobile seat and rails plus hand-basin and WC.

The second bathroom contains a bath with shower/changing tray all one unit with a ceiling track hoist. The bath unit can be raised to the height the carer needs. The shower tray drains into the bath or the client can be hoisted slightly, the carer lifts the lightweight tray into the upright position and the client is lowered into the bath. The fixed ceiling hoist allows for quick and easy transfer.

There is a separate fixed ceiling hoist above the toilet in this bathroom with a drop down handrail.

This bathroom has a fixed sensory mirror-ball to create a uniquely relaxing atmosphere.

Prices range from £295 to £1095 depending on the time of year. A deposit of 30% is required to secure a booking with the balance being payable 8 weeks prior to arrival.

Changeover days are on a Saturday.
